I've been using the Finder since 1989, when I was old enough to start using a
computer. My parents... they've been using it since 1984. The Finder was
always a part of my computing experience growing up, and even though I make a
living fixing Windows machines, I will always be a Mac user. Every once in a
while, I kind of miss the flat graphical UI that the Finder was in System 6 and
7. I definitely think that the Finder and the rest of Mac OS X is really
overdue for a UI refresh. Apple, we need more colors than just blue and grey.
I'd love to see a color scheme and UI similar to that of the new QuickTime X
player. But honestly, I think the next big advance in Mac UI is going to
combine the Finder with the iPhone Springboard and the Dashboard, and that'll be
the way things look and act.
Been using this for a month now, it's simple and does what it's supposed to.
A few comfort features are missing compared to Windows 7 but that's all. Can't
really complain. They could have added a few more things to the context menu
though.
Initially simple and straight-forward but more configurable than it appears.
Once you get used to it, Finder is quite powerful.
For those who wanted to see the current file path (pwd):
* Open Terminal and run the following command:
defaults write com.apple.finder _FXShowPosixPathInTitle -bool YES
Then type "killall Finder" (to restart Finder) and enjoy your
Finder path.
Nice and clean.
Best version of Finder since the conception of OS X.
Find and manage anything on your Mac... files, disks, network locations, and more.
