The 932nd most popular game on Windows
Geometry Wars came as a pleasant surprise to many who played Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox. The mini-game was accessible through the in-game garage, simply by walking up to the arcade machine and hitting the [A] button. The premise is simple; fly your geometric ship around the screen, avoiding the enemies whilst shooting them down for points. You start with a few lives, and are given a couple of bombs. More lives and bombs are gained the longer you survive, although the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly! Scoreboards on Xbox Live keep track of the best players, meaning the best in the world can step up and be counted. Geometry Wars was created by veteran Bizarre coder Stephen Cakey Cakebread. The game was originally concieved as a tiny demo to test some new joypad code which Cakey had written for Project Gotham Racing. Once it made it's way around the Bizarre studio though, the interest it sparked encouraged Steve to develop the title into a full mini game. The distinctive style came about from a desire to not "mess around with texture files". Keeping the graphics simple meant the entire game could be expressed in a single C file... and simplicity was key as there was very little time in the PGR2 schedule left for Steve to work on GW. As well as being bundled as a secret in PGR2, Geometry Wars can also be found in its own sequel: Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on the Xbox 360. The updated version allows you to not only play in high-definition, but also features more particles, and a layered starfield instead of a flat black background.… More Edit

This game should be freeware!
I wasn't into this game after trying the fan made one "Grid Wars 2" maybe I'm just used to it but this one isn't as fun.
This game is awesome on the 360, I bought it the second it came out on Steam but to my dismay discovered that it was a really bad port where the view was fixed at 640x480 ]:
I didn't like the game at first, but after an hour of play, it gets addicting.
