The 18th most popular web client on Windows
The Gmail Notifier is an application that alerts you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to let you know if you have unread Gmail messages, and shows you their subjects, senders and snippets, all without your having to open a web browser. Edit

Love it! No need to refresh the gmail page or even have it open, and it uses up a lot less memory than for instance Outlook.
Great way of keeping up to date with gmail inbox. Shame you have to hack it to make it work with https...
There's no option to automatically log in, and there's no support for multiple accounts. Also, Google hasn't upated this for quite a while.
great way to keep track on multi accounts in gmail. counter of new messages is shown in toolbar.
Free and useful. Simply wanted to be notified when I get emails to my Gmail and this does the job perfectly with no arguments. Love it.
Its a very good program, but the only thing I don't like is that you can't keep track of MULTIPLE gmail accounts. I'd rather use Digsby's version of the inbox, because you can check multiple accounts and it has more features.
Even though there are now multiple clients, plug-ins, and apps that allow you to check your Gmail status, I still find myself using this all the damn time.
Gmail Notifier is simple and straightforward.
Troubles with getting your status after setting Gmail to Secure HTTPS?

Useful, but have some errors.
useful app
does what it says on de tin. thumbs up!
I don't like the fact you can only use one email for it. Unless there is a way and I'm not aware of it yet XD
Simple yet Powerful!
google talk is better....
While the official Gmail Notifier works well for its intended purpose, it lacks features that similar applications provide. For instance, checkgmail for Linux provides the user with the ability to delete, archive, and mark messages as read from the system tray instead of being forced to login. Such a feature would not be difficult to implement, but Google has not updated their notifier in several years.
