free on-line office. Microsoft in ass
I can't dispute most of the comments made previously, this is an awesome app and worthy of the praise and condemnation. There is not a full feature set like that supplied with other paid suites, but this isn't a con. Firstly, you haven't paid for it and secondly it allows for a greatly simplified interface. For me this really shines when sharing documents with users who are less computer literate and wouldn't know what to do if a .docx, .odt or .wps doc hit them that didn't open when they 'double-clicked'!
Google Docs is a great idea, but it lacks a lot of the features of other office suites... which is understandable since it's new and still in development... and all online. That being said, I'd like to at least see an ability to sort files by filetype! Come on, guys!
I use Google Docs everyday. It is my replacement for a local solution to all that it does.
The great benefits are that I can access the material from anywhere, and this has been a help in many cases. It is also a great collaboration tool. I even use it as a web-publisher for material where format and display is not important.
The downside is that it is cloud based - and when Google is down I am down with it. Not a huge problem yet, but it has caused some inconveniences.
I prefer it to Microsoft Office. I love that I can save my docs in the web and I have no problems with sharing with my colleges. But the number of features is't enough for office workers.
I love it. You probably won't need features that aren't included in this. Easy syncing and back-up, easy to share, and lots of export options.
love the suite, as i do with most google products, not as feature rich as an actual office suite but pretty damn good for an online suite
Great!
Google Docs may lack some of the advanced features of it's offline cousins but it makes up for this with performance and portability. The interface is clean and easy to use, the feature set robust enough that unless you are working on something unusually complex, you should have everything you need to get the job done.
The integration with other Google services make this one of the most useful tools on the web.
While it lacks the more powerful features present in actual office packages like MS Office (as well as some basic features), it excels in convenience and collaborative tools. You can publish your document to the web in two clicks, share them with colleagues, and even edit them collaboratively in real-time. And best of all, your documents are always available from any web-connected computer. If it wasn't free, I'd pay for it.
Has almost every feature you could need for day-to-day purposes.
A brilliant tool for collaborative editing of documents.
