The game allows the player to take on the role of a criminal who can roam freely around a city. Various missions are set for completion, such as bank robberies, assassinations, and other crimes. It is the first in the Grand Theft Auto series. The game was originally named "Race N Chase".

It can be fun, though I played GTA2 first so GTA1 was a bit more boring to me. Good that it's free now. They should make GTA London 1969 free too.
