Probably my my best experience playing an MMORPG ever. The most fun, the most
addicting, and, the best price! No subscription fees. Deserves more than five
stars for Price / Value. The interface is just perfect. The game runs amazingly,
with great graphics - in fact, I have computers which can run Guild Wars on
maximum settings and cannot run World of Warcraft on minimum settings. Patching
is realtime, streamline, and instantaneous - every time you load a new area,
you'll load the patches there before you even get there.
Simply the best.
I really like this game. It's a lot of fun, and the lack of subscription fee
is a huge plus. Great graphics, the people on it have been very helpful in my
experience. I love it. :)
I've played Guild Wars and all its subsequent expansions since 2005 and it's
one of my favourite RPGs. The first thing that drew me in was the fantastic
artwork: the game is BEAUTIFUL. The graphics engine isn't cutting edge by
today's standards, but the game still looks great and the landscapes, creatures,
architecture, etc. are all intricate and timeless. The music is also amazing,
and it's all composed by Jeremy Soule who also did the soundtracks for Morrowind
and Oblivion.
The gameplay is not your usual WOW-type grindfest. The level cap of 20 and
instanced gameplay are core features of Guild Wars, and try move focus to skill,
not grind. It makes the game a lot less tedious than WOW-type games where you
can take months to reach max level--all while paying a subscription fee. Saying
that these features "made a lot of people quit" makes no sense since
they've been with guild wars since the beginning.
Overall Guild Wars was and still is a great series of games, with an
outstanding community and fan base. With a few friends, PVE play can be a blast
and a shared experience that you won't forget.
Guildwars is a nice game. I played since it launched April 2005. The 3
campaigns the game has all differ. The first campaign, aka Prophecies is still
the best I think, apart from missions being much longer than missions from the
other two campaigns. The second campaign, aka Factions, didn't add much pve
content to be proud of, I didn't like it and I did quit the game due to that.
Then about 2 years later in 2008, I tried the third campaign ,aka Nightfall.
This campaign added hero support and the pve content was much nicer than the
content from Factions.
I also tried the official expansion The Eye Of The North, this expansion
added more content to the storyline of Prophecies.
Overall a nice game but the level cap of lvl 20 and the "instanced"
area play made lots of people quit. I hope GW2 will do bettter on that.
And one more thing: When you consider buying one of the Guildwars campaigns I
would recommend Nightfall. It is a nice campaign to start with.
Guild Wars manages to pull off the subscriptionless MMO concept very well,
and while everyone I know has purchased it, everyone who has done so has quit
playing.
I guess that can be blamed on a generic fantasy story, and a floaty camera
and control system. It isn't much fun to solo either, being a group PVE/PVP
focused game.

Good game, although it can get a bit repetitive. Scarily addictive. Game looks quite good on my not so good laptop video card (intel integrated)

You can get addicted quite easily to it! Love this game!

Hmm I'm curious what surprises they have in store for us,if any,and maybe this means more GW2 news too?
The game isn't that bad but the $20 is hardly worth it. Many free alternatives offer the same features and game play.

Good game. One off payment, MMORPG without monthy charges. Story is rather good, gameplay is good, graphics are reasonable.
A highly addictive online game. Medieval style.
Focuses on skills and strategy, rather than mindless mouse-clicking and leveling.
Yosh I got nightfall and factions too now.
Maybe I will order the bonus mission pack too next month.
GW FTW
