A great game when I had it..
Almost 10 years old and this game is still great. During its heyday it had some of the best graphics around. I remember it was the first rts I've ever played where it was fun to just watch things occur. Watching huge battles of capitol ships was spectacular, and yet it was just as intriguing to single in on a particular ship and watch it perform in battle. The turrets and stuff actually moved when it fired. Even watching harvesters dock was interesting to watch.
However, more than being a beautiful game, it was tons of fun. It was really balanced and the story line of the single player campaign was pretty good. The only thing I was ever annoyed with, was that in the single player campaign the salvage corvette unit is absolutely necessary. If you don't steal a ton of your opponents fleet with it you are put at a huuuuge disadvantage. Thats only a minor gripe though, and the only one I can really think to make about an otherwise great game.
