Just like all dutchies, I use it because everyone does it. Facebook has
waaaayyy more potential, although the entrepeneurs behind Hyves do have an
interesting vision on the future of the platform.
Personally I hope they totally dump the overbloated interface and split to
fit the wishes of a more mature audience...
I prefer to use Facebook, but that simply has no meaning because all my
friends are on Hyves and defeats the purpose of social networking. I don't like
the programming clutter on Hyves, all the AJAX with ads in it just doesn't work.
Also the photo album could be improved. I hope there's a day when Facebook
becomes mainstream in the Netherlands. Untill then I will continue to use
Hyves.

Hyves is soo ehh. How do I put this.. Not cool?
The only reason why I have a Hyves account is because of the 200.000 emails I
get every month telling me I have to sign up and become friends with people I
know.
Now I do have an account.. I dont get any mail anymore.. yay?
IT was very crappy around two years ago. The servers couldn't hold the amount
of visitors. Now, at this time, it's all going well, even foreign people can use
it.
However, I'm Dutch, I'm still not confident with the 'Goldmember' option.
Just give stats to everyone!
Overall Hyves is (despite being very big in Holland) pretty crappy. The
interface sucks pretty badly, and it is slow. Still, it's pretty fun from time
to time.

niet geweldig maar toch..
Without a doubt the crappiest social network of them all. It's slow, bloated with features, has an ugly interface and is very, very hard to use.
great website but can be slow, there are some great poeple on there.
Dutch concurrent of facebook. Sometimes slow, but I think the overall score of hyves would be 4/5 because of the number of people using it.
A very popular profile website, but not the best, cause its slow and the overall usability sucks
