Coming from a person who has tried virtually every free office suite on the planet, Lotus Symphony distinguished itself with a simple, intuitive interface that has a browser style tab design.

This with OO, AbiWord, and other writing suites lack one important thing, access to the speed of windows integrated dll's and such. I want speed and smoothness. This was just slightly smoother than OO but more powerful than AbiWord.

    I am sticking with Wordperfect.

Very good substitute to Microsoft Office Suite. It is not extensive in features as MS Office though. As it is given for free and supports open document format its value is invaluable. Moreover it can save documents in xls, doc, ppt formats so we dont need to buy MS office for our simple needs. One of the good features is there are many plugins available to extend its power. It has a built in browser to view webpages and can be truly said as Office Suite.
