Great idea from IKEA. Get people familiar with its products, and they will buy IKEA products most of the time in future. Good marketing idea!
A free 2D/3D CAD type program that has some (but unfortunately not nearly all) of the IKEA furniture in it. If you are planning a kitchen, work space, or bedroom and you want to use IKEA stuff in it, it's not a bad tool. If you want to plan something like your living room or den, it's missing several key lines of IKEA furniture. Sometimes combinations that should work together don't. Sometimes furniture refuses to connect or line up where you tell it to. Sometimes the 2D view goes blank (though if you save and reopen the program it comes back), and it even crashes on occasion. Good things: it's free, automatically creates shopping lists with prices and quantity, and gives you an idea of how things will fit (or not) in your space. Bad things: missing several common lines of IKEA furniture, buggy, and sometimes frustrating to work with.
