Urban Terror was originally a mod for Quake 3 Arena. Later the game went Stand Alone with ioUrbanTerror.
Urban Terror no longer requires you to have Quake3; anyone can download and play it for free. Urban Terror is available for windows, linux and macintosh.
Urban Terror could best be described as a Hollywood tactical shooter; it is realism based to a certain extent (environments/weapons/player models), but also goes by the motto "fun over realism" (fast gameplay and lots of action). This combination of reality and action results in a very unique, enjoyable and addictive game.

Pretty fun game, been playing for years since version 1.27, but its hit detection system still stinks.
It shows its age, but is still a fun first person shooter, especially for being completely free.
Pretty fun with some friends but can get boring. Frustrating also when players don't play politely (snipe and/or spawn camp).

I really like this game. But the best part is that its free and multi platform!!
