The only reason i use iTunes is because I have an iPod and AppleTV - which
are both great. Unfortunately iTunes is not that good. It does do everything I
need it to only slowly and awkwardly. Windows Media Player is far superior as
far as the music library is concerned.
From my point of view, iTunes is an awesome player. It has a very cool
interface, it is compatible with Last.fm, it has very good organisational
features, and it has a podcast "client?", something that WMP11 doesn't
have.
The only negatives that I see are that it occasionally freezes in Vista, you
have to create an account with iTunes to get album art, and it takes quite a bit
of memory to run.
iTunes is ok, you can use it most of the time to play what you want to listen
to. I use it for shuffle mode and podcasts. There are probably better players
and stuff but it meets my basic needs. I would like to be able to schedule the
podcast updates but I have used a cron job with applescript to get around this
limitation. I would easily switch to another podcasting app I think. Oh and it
works with last.fm scrobbler.

you. Excellent Library management - especially the "Keep iTunes folder
organised" feature.
I agree with EWWM, iTunes is one of the worst music applications available,
from it's inferior library management to the excessive bloating of files by
adding album art to every song... it's called ALBUM are not SONG art. If it
wasn't for my iPod I would NOT use it at all.
I hate iTunes. If it wasn't for iPod's I wouldn't even install it. There is

before itunes we had winamp and Audion and people had a few hundred songs
tops in their play list cos' after that it got messy and u had no overview of
your music files. Before itunes, putting in a cd in your pc was still the
eisiest wat to listen to music on a computer

XP version is a little bloated compared to windows players such as foobar and winamp even ones that have portable syncing capabilities

I only use it for ipod syncing.

Amazing software if you own an ipod. If not, i recommend Foobar2000.
