Very powerful screenshot tool. Don't want to miss it.

Yeah, it is a screen capture program, so it had been classified into wrong category. Should be under Utilities.

Reasonable price/features ratio; for a free product it's powerful, but too many of the good features are locked up in the Pro edition. (But we really can't blame them for monetizing.) Performance: sometimes laggy, unresponsive even -- built on .NET. But the free version will get what you need done.

You can't beat Jing for the money ;)

No really, it's awesome. There are lots of apps now that let you annotate screenshots with text and highlighting, but Jing's can also do a quick screencast video with narration!

On top of that, Jing offers built-in hosting for the captures (and the ability to FTP them to my own webserver instead), and keeps a history of the captures I've taken, to make it easy to find the old ones.

And yes, SnagIt (same developers) is undoubtedly better, but this is top of the list for freebie screen capture apps.

Awesome to have running in the background. Usually has an acceptably small memory footprint, but I've observed it sucking up as much as 250,000k.

Besides the quick access when taking a screenshot, the automatic ftp upload to your own server adds a professional touch when sharing screenshots with people. Once the screenshot is uploaded, you can configure Jing to automatically place a link to said upload on your clipboard.

Best thing of all is that the program's best features are free. There are some bonuses to having a subscription, but it's probably not enough to warrant a purchase from the normal user.

A great, lightweight alternative to SnagIt (same developers). Don't like subscription based software otherwise I'd have paid for the upgrade.

    Great little program though.

I went ahead and paid for the pro version. This is the most fantastic software around for training purposes. I can record how to do something for someone, and post it on the Internet. It just doesn't get much easier, or better. I don't know what the folks mean about it being slow. Maybe they're on a slow PC, because Jink flies on mine.
