A system tool developed by The Juice Team
Used by 430 people for 334 hours, 7 minutes and 35 seconds
Want to listen to internet audio programs (podcasts), music and shows but can't when they are scheduled? Juice is for you.
Juice lets users select and download shows and music and play whenever they want on their iPods, portable digital media players, or computers automatically.
We've implemented Juice in Python. It supports most RSS protocols and scans for enclosures. If the enclosure is in the form of a BitTorrent file, it will download the torrent file in the background. If the mediaplayer on the system supports it, the downloaded content is automatically added to playlists. The content is kept on the local harddrive in nested folders, titled with the show's name.
The system works on Windows & Mac, for specifications check the download page.

I prefer Juice over iTunes because I can limit it to one download at a time (it will queue many, but if I have a slow connection or limited wifi I can limit to one active file.) Also, iTunes "organizes" the files for you. With Juice, I can close the app when done, then use explorer to burn the files to a CD in any order I choose for playback on my mp3 capable CD in my truck- much my preference. I don't use my mp3 player for podcasts, so the lack of a sync function is a plus for me.
It does what it does well - downloads podcasts. You can schedlue them to download and you have a lot of control over what to actually download. The podcast directory needs some work so you can check out the homepages without subscribing. You can click in the player to listen to your tracks but there is no way to sync new tracks to your iPod / flash drive from this app. You need to figure out your own syncing.
best podcast client in my opinion
