Even as I write this I feel like a note-taking luddite. Be that as it may, I keep coming back to Keynote after using and despairing its modern-day counterparts (Evernote, Onenote etc. etc.) largely because of its simplicity and old-world charm.

The program hasn't evolved from its heyday -- its feature set has remained still since development died in 2005 -- while newer programs can boast exponentially greater capabilities. It still serves as a fine note taking and generic writing tool, and would be of particular interest to those who want quick and easy note taking without all the fluff and garnish.

At its core, Keynote provides most useful tools for basic styling and formatting, organizing and securing documents. The macros are a nice touch. Documents are editable in rich text format which, though not the sweetest, is quite usable and compatible with most word processors.

All put together, Keynote is a fine tool -- fast, largely problem-free, but available only for Windows. If you're not expecting cutting edge features (or if you're hit by a wave of nostalgia), Keynote is a very useful software to have on your pc.

Holy Hell!! This great program is BACK! and with a vengenance. Thank You for returning a great note taking program. I went to treepad when this one went under a few years ago. Treepad is good, but this program, KeyNote, is the best.
