ShareLast.fm is a UK-based Internet radio and music community website, founded in 2002. It claims over 21 million active users based in more than 200 countries. On 30 May 2007, CBS Interactive acquired Last.fm for £140m ($280m USD). Using a music recommendation system called "Audioscrobbler", Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of all the songs the user listens to, either on the streamed radio stations or on the user's computer or some portable music devices. This information is transferred to Last.fm's database ("scrobbled") via a plugin installed into the user's music player. The profile data is then displayed on the user's profile page. The site offers numerous social networking features and can recommend and play artists similar to the user's favourites. Users can create custom radio stations and playlists from any of the audio tracks in Last.fm's music library, and are able to listen to some individual tracks on demand, or download tracks if the rights holder has previously authorised it. A novel idea that lets you keep track of your music and meet other fans with the same taste. The interface can be a little clumsy, especially when searching for artists or fan groups, but it's still a spectacular service.
Jeden z najlepszych serwisów działających w sieci. Utworzenie swojego muzycznego profilu w tak rozbudowanej odsłonie to rzadkość. Kolejnym pozytywem jest język, gdyż strona w całości funkcjonuje po polsku. Doskonałe źródło informacji na temat mniej znanych zespołów oraz możliwość wypromowania tych młodszych. Opcja słuchania swojej biblioteki oraz propozycji również zasługuje na uznanie. Twórcy wykonali i wykonują, poprzez rozbudowywanie serwisu, świetną robotę!

btw: Why doesn't my wakoopa count the minutes i spend on last.fm? im using it for hours and it says i spent like 11 minutes on it..

oh yeah that's true. i also hate all the trolling etc. but i managed it somehow to not take a look at the shoutboxes.. that makes you sick. Yea last.fm surely has problems but you shouldn't care, as long as you can find new artists / bands and manage your libary on your side.
Good site if you can tolerate all the hate which goes all around shoutboxes (such as anti-christians bashing unblack bands), trolls, neonazi wannabes who roam freely all around last.fm with their hatefull nazi comments etc. Only few moderators and you can't contact staff members (they don't want to spend their time with the users I gues). Last.fm has so many problems, i'm sick of wannabes,trve people etc etc. It allways makes me sad. All in all it's very good site for finding new bands. Before I joined last.fm I didn't even know such great acts like Amaka Hahina, Drowning The Light and Alastor Sanguinary Embryo even existed. Last.fm has many people and groups I loathe but I still use the site and allways will. Another thing which saddens me are that they dropped the creditcard payment and changed to paypal (my paypal account hasn't worked for years).
