http://www.linkedin.com/in/jennyd I have a free account and
over 11,000 1st level contacts. Although I dislike the spam from LinkedIn, the
pros of this business networking site are too good to past up!
LinkedIn is a great professional network with lots of features. Integration
is a bit weak, and the usability of all the information on the site could be
better. I use it!
Another famous social network, older than Facebook. Its target users and
stakeholders are not teens or spring break students, but people in search for a
job, or currently employed, professionals, companies, associations, societies
(etc...) which matter the importance of a reputation in the world of jobs.
You create a profile, add informations about you (current position,
education, companies where you where employed, curriculum vitae, etc...). You
can search for a job in a determinate category, for a certain position or in a
certain company. Or if you're a company you can browse people profiles to search
who are the best candidates for a position. As other social network you can join
and create groups, useful to share knowledge about your interests. Also like the
last trends in social media you can add those "applications", many are
interesting, many others are crap.
LinkedIN needs a very high number of informations, because the more you
put on the profile, the more your reputation raises, and the more your profile
appears in a higher position on search.
From my point of view it's useful to universitary students searching for a
first employment or an intership. Also or for professional to enlarge their
Public relationships.
I think you don't really get the concept and target audience of LinkedIn,
Facebook or both if you're comparing the two. Great for managing my contacts and
be notified who's moving and shaking :)
A lot of people claim this will take of facebook, personally I find it too
crowded, it eliminates the younger generation, and makes things more serious
than we want them to be
It's nice to have LinkedIn as a place to publicize yourself in a professional
level, separate from the more casual types of Facebook and MySpace. Interface
could use a bit more de-cluttering.
I guess this is oriented more towards contractors, who depend on their
contacts to have a steady flow of orders coming in. For me, as a clerk, I doubt
this has much advantages over e.g. Facebook. I find the interface much too
cluttered - it's not easy to have an overview because headers & body text
are not contrasting enough.
That being said, it is a nifty thing to have and I'll continue using it -
it's probably a good investment for the future, I just don't see the use yet at
this point.
Its a nice idea but doesn't do much by way of what it sets out to accomplish.
There's nothing extraordinary about LinkedIn, still its a nice way to manage
your professional identity online and I have reconnected with several people I
know. The new groups and apps features are a long due move towards making
LinkedIn more productive.

use a little
Too much information to place on the web, regardless of the social intent.
O Facebook eu acho mais dia a dia...
É bom ter Linkedin como um lugar para fazer propaganda de si mesmo em um nível profissional, e também o Unyk

It's just there. Leave me alone headhunters!
The more professional facebook I find.

I feel like Facebook could be better, but this is nice if you just want to be strictly professional with your contacts.
