It can extract commercial DVD movies to your hard drive, without all the copy protection, and region controls put in place by DVD publishers. You can then use various tools to burn the movie back to DVD-R for use in DVD players, or convert the movie to different formats for playback with a variety of devices.

It's a very good tool, does its job, though it has not been updated in years.
Could not let me rip Wall-E though...

Does what it says on the box. No problems with it.
Great for DVDs though I use Handbrake more this tool is useful too.
Definitely the best tool I've found for making whole-disk backups of home movies I've archive to DVD and whatnot.
