The Marathon Trilogy is a science fiction series of first-person shooter computer games from Bungie Software, originally released for the Macintosh. Marathon refers to the name of the giant interstellar colony ship that provides the setting for the first game and figures prominently in the plot of the sequels; the ship is constructed out of what used to be the moon Deimos of Mars.

One of the best storylines of any game--really mysterious. You feel like you're on the outside of this big conspiracy or something and you have to piece together what's going on from communications terminals scattered about. Some non-crucial ones give you missing parts of the story by letting you view communications between certain parties, etc. It's very non-linear (the storyline anyhow) and makes it feel all that more like you're immersed IN the story, not just watching it unfold like a movie (e.g. Half-Life).
