Probably the best software for animation. I use it along with Lightwave 3d.

I prefer Cinema4D, easier user interface, same amount of controls, easier to customize. But still a great program!

Maya is more than cool..it is just awesome!!!! Maybe it is a little bit expensive but there is nothing for free guys!!! Especially if we talk about GOOD programs! However, MAYA is really cheap in India :>
