MemPad

MemPad is a plain text outliner and note taking program with a structured index. All pages are stored in a single file. The program offers standard editing functions including cut, copy, paste, undo, date/time insert, drag&drop, and supports Web links as well as network and local file or folder links (full path not required) and internal page links. Environmental variables can be used in file links to run programs, for example. MemPad always saves data without prompting (when closing Mempad or opening another file). It offers automatic backup, search through all pages or within a node, word wrap mode, read-only file handling, page locking, memory stack (pages, text positions). Options include custom font, background color, minimize to System Tray, hotkey, always on top, ESC shortcut to quit or minimize, diary support with year/month/day index structure, export page, node or all to a file or directly to another program and password protected encryption.

  Finally an update for one of my favorite programs. Version 3.33 improves a lot of things, like the search handling and links. The changelog advertises some tab settings may be lost, but mine are still intact.

  This is a wonderful program. I just wish it was updated more often...

  MemPad is by far the best note taking program available: small, stable, fast, simple but powerful.
  Uncluttered interface, simple keyboard shortcuts, encryption and diary entry are a few of the most desirable features on this kind of program, and MemPad has them. Plus, it is portable, meaning you can put it in your pen drive and take it with you wherever you go.
  What else can I say? I love it and it's one of the most useful programs I know.
