Menéame ("shake me" in Spanish, with some Andalusian colour and a obscure but funny self-sex connotation) it's the spanish Digg's more successful clone. Developed by Ricardo Galli, a former Universitat de les Illes Balears' teacher and Benjamí Villoslada, a bitologist (for bits of information) in his own words. Both are free software oriented and Internet culture hackers, IMHO. Meneame is a website where you can send a history that will be revised by peers and promoted to the front page depending on votes received from other users. A discussed karma system (kinda value of your opinion, based on activity and votes from others, again) rules participation. Started as a geek-only page, competitors of Barrapunto (Slashdot spanish clone) now it's much more mainstream oriented and a funny and useful place where you can get information and amusement faster than on main Spanish media . In fact, lots of "serious" media take information from meneame, as I personally stated. Lots of other sites use the free code from Meneame. It's probably the most visited Spanish metasite (as all entries come from other blogs and sites), with more than 100.000 visits a day (can't find exact numbers ...). Personally, I've found a quality loss in last two years or so, news are less technical and more controversial, even political parties use it for viral propaganda purposes, and discussions get more and more angry, with Goodwin effect arising constantly ... even that way, I visit almost every day, 'coz it's addictive! in a way :-)… More Edit
