WLM is now 'the' most popular instant messenger platform and offers updates on a quarterly basis. It is perhaps one of Microsofts forefronts of technology after their Windows OS.

lame service.. file transfers take forever even if your in the same room as the other person... managing friends is a nightmare

Well I clean it up with Apatch and add MSG Plus.
I disable everything in my contact list (favorites, updates). And in my chat window I only see the text.
Then it's a good client. But it's way too bloated!
It can be very buggy, however it does have a decent range of features such as games, video conference, winks, custom emotes etc..
It certainly isn't the best but it is ok.
It may be a little bugged sometimes... the protocol s*** after all. Anyway, WLM14 is pretty good overall. But I still liked it better when contacts' photos were on the right side :p
Oh, and don't forget to get A-Patch to remove the ads and gain some cool functionality (:
Love Windows Live Messenger. ALl my friends are on it. I can talk to my Yahoo! Messenger friends too. Use A-Patch to remove the ads and other annoying parts of the client, and then it's awesome :)
My favourite messenger for Hotmail and Windows Live. The new version looks really good, even better on Windows 7. Easy to use, but maybe lacks one or two features if you don't have the Plus! and/or Discovery add-ons. Also can get a little bit sluggish sometimes with loading time, sign in, and when you have a lot of message logs and a lot of messages.
Used it to keep in touch with an important friend.

This is just so strange and all but the program is fine and to me about the best way to comunicate with friends and family :)
Awkward, but the best there is, at least for PC.
Too many featurs! That's probably why the performance is getting worse with every new installment.. If they'd have people pay for this, not many would keep on using it.
