Word is a superb tool with an incredible number of functions, but it is let down by some really annoying features, such as the automated styling and formatting.
Sorry, but Pages (iWork '08) is better than Word 2008. 'nuff said.
I agree with nstenberg, and still it keeps on sucking hahaha...
On a MacbookPro a simple text-editor, because, comon... what els does it, should run alot faster...
Best Office Suite ever.
It took some time to get used to Office 2007, but have adapted and the interface looks great.
Notepad is still my best friend.
I really love the new Office 08. To me it's far better than any other suite !
new ribbon works so well!
If I had my choice I would use either OpenOffice or iWork. Since I work in an environment were everyone else uses Office 2007 I'm stuck using Office 2008 and Word. Good for what it does, but still bloated for what it needs to do.
Get OpenOffice or NeoOffice on OSX. Microsoft will continue to move their "standards" around to keep you buying more Microsoft. Too bad OOXML was passed as a standard.
There is no program better for making documents. No, not as far as I know, as far as anyone knows. Especially Word 2007 is King at what it does. I make beautiful documents for Uni for which I get huge amounts of praise, just by using the basic options that word offers. Thanks Bill.
About as basic a need as Firefox. Honestly, no better program exists for common day-to-day usage, this coming from a person who's used Open Office for years. It's worth the money, albeit a good chunk of change if you go for the higher end MS Office packages.
Office is a must-have for every home and business pc.
I hve to use Word 2007 in my profession and it is not to my liking. The ribbons take away way to much space. Until know everything I needed I could be done in alternative word processors. I think it is not bad, but hardly worth the price.
Best thing about Word 2007: When you type "Dear [insert name]," ...THERE'S NO FUCKING PAPERCLIP!!!
I used Microsoft Offices like for ever. Merchant Lynx Services
