Initially developed for Firefox only, Minimem now can reduce the memory footprint of any application. It runs in the background and can be set up to optimize as many proceses as you'd like, using a very intuitive graphical interface. Unlike other memory optimization tools, it gives you full control over what applications you want to optimize, when and how often, as well as the possibility to only optimize memory when required and relevant. It optimizes memory by removing as many non-necessary memory pages as possible from the selected processes. It does so at regular intervals which can be user-defined as well and every 30s by default, though uses an advanced pooling mechanism to ensure the CPU usage of Minimem remains low at all times. This is what I use to punish memory hogs, and I use it along with smart ram.& they make sure nothing exceeds 5-7MB.

It works great, but seems like people don't know how to use it properly.
People need to add the application they want to reduce memory usageto the left Window, click optimize above, change the "Optimize memory every" to 5 sec (this will optimize the mem every 5 seconds), then click apply, and then ok. That's it.
At first it seemed to keep Firefox from using too much memory and kept it more manageable. However, overall I noticed very little difference and Firefox still would end up using a lot of memory. SmartRam from IOBit's Advanced System Care does much better job at reducing memory usage and I would recommend that instead.
