What's so good about irc that it withstood the test of time? Well for one, it's light, and not at all complicated. But yet advanced users can create scripts that could personify their Mirc. What's more, it's not just a chatting tool, it's also a build in P2P software in itself, using the DCC transfer. Want to transfer those mp3s without the feds knowing? Use irc.
all in all, an awesome but overlooked piece of software
Very good Finnish software. :D
im the top user again.. i have no life. :(
Really Good Scripting, Features and Design.
Brought me into the world of IRC.
mIRC + NNS, best IRC client period.
Great IRC chat software, great performance, great features like IRC Bot Coding and the price is great, 30 day trial then it's cheap! Did I mention the Interface is great but needs some more tweaks?
mIRC is very unstable for me, dropping links to one or all of my active servers completely at random with the distinctly unhelpful message "Software caused connection reset".
This is unacceptable performance for a commercial program.
Consequently, I mostly use Opera's built-in IRC client, which I've never had a single problem with.
It may have fewer features, but at least Opera's IRC can keep a connection open - which apparently is more than mIRC is capable of.
In summary, mIRC reminds me strikingly of the Portal MUD client; loaded with advanced features, yet incapable of doing something as fundamental to its core purpose as keeping an active connection open.
The best IRC client for windows platform and there is no other equal match for this application. I use mIRC + Nonamescript and it provides a plethora of options to enjoy chat on the IRC channels.
Also, there are tons of mIRC scripts, themes, addons available and it is actively under development by the author
best of the best. period. mirc with nonamescript... perfect for all your irc needs.
mIRC + Sysreset + gtsdll
good prog
Mirc was a good client when it was free but not worth the 20$.. it really needs a UI update to compete with other windows apps... I prefer HydraIRC even in its unfinished state
mIRC + NoNameScript are very usefull! I love NoNameScript!
Just does the job and it's for free.
