The 5th most popular messenger on Windows

mIRC is a shareware Internet Relay Chat client for Windows, created in 1995 and developed by Khaled Mardam-Bey. Although it is a fully functional chat utility, its integrated scripting language makes it extensible and versatile.

mIRC is very popular, having been downloaded almost nine million times from CNET's download.com service as of March 2007. Nielsen Net Rankings also ranked mIRC among the top 10 most popular Internet applications in 2003.

The chat client is shareware, but you can still use it after 30 days.

The worst thought I had about this, was that you had to pay for it. IRC has nearly faded out in some places, so I don't see why it still costs. Anyways, from how it is, I think its one of the best IRC clients, right behind Pidgin being my favorite.

I've tried many IRC clients on Windows, but every time, I came back to mIRC. It's nice and stable and I've yet to encounter any major drawbacks - it lets me chat on IRC and also enables me to write annoying scripts with its simple language.

Best IRC-client for Windows. Only minus is the registeration-dialog that pops up unless you buy a key.
