The 134th most popular system tool on Linux
… More EditMnemosyne (named for the Greek goddess of memory) is spaced repetition software developed from 2003 until the present. The software is similar to SuperMemo, commercial software developed by Piotr Wozniak.
Mnemosyne uses an early version of the SuperMemo algorithm, SM-2.
Proponents of spaced repetition claim that by allowing the software to schedule learning reviews, long-term memory is aided.
Mnemosyne also voluntarily collects data from its users. This data is made freely available and is a research project on long-term memory.

I recently started trying to teach myself Latin. Like any language, this demands a HUGE amount of memorisation - vocab, verb forms, rules, etc, etc, etc.
This program has been a huge HUGE help. Every day it puts me through my paces, continually hammering me with the specific items I find it hardest to remember, and not bothering me with the stuff I already know backwards. I haven't yet used the fact that it's also possible to add pictures, sound files and so on, but it's good to know that the ability is there if I want it.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone who needs to learn anything involving memory.
This is a good product. However, I wish it wouldn't require the answer grading system to be filled out. I would just like to use this to quiz myself on vocabulary words, but the grading system makes that process take more time.
