Sucky media player. Unstable, looks ugly and needs better controls.

mplayer is a wonderful media player, but only in command line mode. The GUI is overly complex and not needed. The command line mode does the trick every time. This program plays HD content like a champ even when others fail miserably.

Media Player Classic is my personal favourite but sometimes when the media is a bit corrupted, mplayer has always come to my rescue. It runs all kinda media, *always*
If it would have a bit more feature rich, like the MPC, i would have preferred it.

mplayer ist one of the most versatile players out there, and it keeps getting better. Consider using the svn version, since most linux distributions pack a very old version.

Great performance, supports almost anything, and runs well from the command-line (cross-platform by the way).

I just love the performance and iterface of this player! And also I love it cause it supports many video and audio formats, not like Windows Media Player or VLC.
