    I almost play the videos in Linux, GNOME desktop from the command-line and the MPlayer do it best to me, IMHO, I never worries about the GUI.

    Horribly. QuickTime is far better, looks nicer and is more stable.

    mplayer is neat. i actually installed it because i needed to watch apple trailers. it did the trick.
