A window and text. Basic cut and paste. Used to read nfo, xpi, html, bat, inf, and other text files along with txt.
Acts perfectly as a note pad. Simple to jot down quick notes.
I use Notepad every single day...several times per day. I freakin' love it!

If you're going to be using this for more than just viewing README files or writing the occasional note, do yourself a favour and get something with more features. I'd recommend Notepad++.
I use notepad to wtrite & edit php code ,
I leave this open all the time for quick notes. I used to use a PIM for that, but notes became the only thing I ran that application for. So back to Notepad. It's simple and does what I need...
Beautiful in its simplicity. Quick for notes and text editing.
Perfect for quick notes etc. as well editing small bits of coding. The simplicity of it is why I like it. Opens quickly when I don't need anything with rich text capabilities.
Notepad is ok if only writing, why use word and bulky stuff
what a stupid lame ass application. So not needed to have a wordpad and notepad. Why don't mickysoft follow apples lead and create a single program that can read and write all major formats ?
Great for writing quick notes and light text editing!
