Share

Microsoft Office Word is Microsoft's flagship word processing software. It was first released in 1983 under the name Multi-Tool Word for Xenix systems. It is a component of the Microsoft Office system; however, it is also sold as a standalone product and included in Microsoft Works Suite.

The latest Windows release is Word 2010 (in Technical Preview stage). The latest Mac OS X release is Word 2008.

Love Word 2007. I upgraded from Word 97 and it's so nice. You can buy the upgrade version as long as you have MS Works.

Microsoft Word has worked even better for me since I made the switch from PC to Mac. For an avid writer like me, who is usually found writing or posting something daily, it's an extremely useful tool, giving many tools to change fonts and designs in instances. Blows away any competing word processors I've ever used.

Not so great for note taking, for finicky formatting issues, but great for serious documents.

    Excellent software.
Main problem is that it crashes once every 7-8 hours or so.
