In my opinion this is the best RSS reader there is (and I have tried many). It is fast, has a simple but greate interface and it is free (open source now) what else could somebody need?

Omea is indispensable if you want a desktop feed reader that doesn't rely on IE to render webpages, or if your Java machinery runs very slowly.

It has two main shortcomings. One is that development stopped for some years, and is only slowly starting again as an open-source project. The other is that it develops massive databases, has limited control over the ways it processes items, and can be awkward.

But even with its shortcomings it is more powerful than any other desktop reader/organiser. It also does a bunch of other things like indexing drives, tracking desktop files, contacts and more.

It is my preferred personal information manager. No freeware so far is able to offer so many tools at one place. One caution dont import all your thousands of bookmarks into it as it saves copies, indexes and tracks changes. Many of the complaints that it is memory hog is due to blind import of irrelevant import of bookmarks. The workspaces is its strength.
