I recently switched to Open Office at home after a clean system reinstall at home. I'm still trying to figure some things out but it definitely loads faster and seems to work in a much user friendly way. Recently started using it at work because my Illustrator hogs all memory, leaving little for other programs like Microsoft Office. Open Office is kickin' butt so far.

I'm just trying OpenOffice (2.4), because it's opensource. Opening a spreadsheet I just downloaded from Gmail, the sheet is read-only, no problem, but while it's read-only, I can't even change the width of columns to see what's behind this ###. For me, it's a real bug. Not so good.

Am a great fan of Open Office. Saved a bundle. Its been over many many years since I bought MS Office. (on Mac I use NeoOffice).

I have to agree with it is better the MS office. You can export PDF unlike MS Office. Best of all it is free. Don't have to pay a dime. No catch.

A lot less clunky that MSOffice, and have yet to come up against any major caveats.

The only office productivity suite in my home, installed on 2 Macs, two Windows PCs, and one Ubuntu Linux workstation.

Better than Ms Office and more compatible. Openoffice looks like a classic integrated office program not like Office 2007 that is ugly and confuse enviroment.

Way better than MS office and much more compatible.

I don't use MS Office anymore (except in office!).

I don't own Microsoft Office anymore, and OpenOffice is a great alternative. It offers almost all options MO has and because it's free I probably will keep using it. There's no better (and free) alternative to Microsoft Office!

Целиком и полностью перешёл на OOo. Уже более трёх месяцев MS Office на моём десктопе отсутствует. Пока все нужные для меня возможности находятся и в OOo.

I love OpenOffice 3.0 beta. Then I test it, I droped all my Microsoft Office's cds in the trash.

    Good program :)

The newest version (3.0 for Mac OS X in beta) is a GREAT alternative to Microsoft's Office platform. Of course, it isn't perfect, but it is faster and more focused on doing what you need than Microsoft's tools.
