It's not better then Microsoft Office but it is the best free alternative to it. It's free, lightweight, about 150MB for all the software including the free version of Word, Powerpoint, Excel and more. Awesome piece of software, has some problems with exporting sometimes when I'm at places with no Ms. Office but it's a good peice of software.

Everything you know from MS Office in only one application. Free and complete. Disadvantage: launching takes quite a long time. Solution: don't close the app.

Completely cross-platform, free and Open Source, works with all of my documents, good choice of plugins and template packs. What's not to like about this free productivity suite. Even works with MS's OOXML format. If you're doing any calculus problems for a worksheet using Writer, you'll notice just how much easier it is to do than with Word.

Free. Open. Fast. Small. Substitutes MS Office and lets you forget about it. Comprise all the necessary features. Practically all.

MS Office, but free. What more do you want? OK the interface looks a bit old, but it really is fantastic.

Best alternative to Word. However, the copy-paste function does suck.
