The 72nd most popular arcade game on Windows
… More EditOpenTyrian is a port of the DOS shoot-em-up Tyrian. Thanks to Jason Emery, the developers were given a copy of the Tyrian source to port but not redistribute. That code has since been ported from Turbo Pascal to C using SDL, making it easily cross-platform. The ‘Classic’ port involves minimal changes, but the 'Enhanced' port will feature further development.
Tyrian is an arcade-style vertical scrolling shooter. The story is set in 20,031 where you play as Trent Hawkins, a skilled fighter-pilot employed to fight Microsol and save the galaxy.

Awesome scrolling shooter, I got the DS version on my flashcard and I'll probably get the x86 version sometime this summer, nothing better than a good old game of Tyrian. Not sure if it supports multiplayer over internet but that'd be awesome.
OpenTyrian is so win! Some of you may know me as the guy who compiles the OpenTyrian Windows public builds from the dev team's code but I'm not saying it's awesome for self-promotion. I'm doing the public builds because I love Tyrian that much!
The best shoot'em videogame ever.
The Tyrian comes to me in 1997 with a Acer Aspire computer.
