Corel acquired PSP from Jasc Software and quickly released PSP X. Luckily, the rush to market prevented Corel from completely ruining things, but they did manage to come close with the release of PSP XI, which was buggy and attempted too many UI "improvements" at the expense of functionality. Photoshop, I hate to admit, is now a superior program overall but is still clunkier to use, rougher on system resources, and highly overrated by its adherents. Moreover, some PSP X image processing functions are better than Photoshop - among them, resizing and noise reduction. Sadly, there aren't many choices when it comes to image editors that offer good photo processing, layers, and vector graphics.
The graphic app I started with and still use quite often
very very good image editor!
This was the image editor I learned how to use years ago, and although I agree Photoshop is the choice for really serious stuff, I still love PSP. Runs mad fast on a newer system, too. Get the eyecandy plugin for more silly features.
My image editor for years.
yo this is sick dude!
Excellent image editor. Less of a learning curve than Photoshop Pro, but still very powerful. Good for novices.
I use this to get rid of camera noise. Best PSP feature ever. That's pretty much it. :P
I use the Corel PSP XI and I am very happy, I always follow the trend, I suggest this software.
I still use Paint Shop Pro 7 every now and then, the reason for this is because it loads way faster than those advanced apps like (e.g. Photoshop).
My first love; but it's been a while since I used it - plus I never used beyond trial. The lack of shadows (or was it masks? :-s) in photoshop makes me miss this guy. Although the current iteration looks ugly on Aero to me..
I've been using Paint Shop Pro 7 for years now. It's enough for me, it has everything I need. I tried Photoshop a few times, but it's confusing to switch from PSP to PS. PSP's controls and features are clear and easy. Before the newest PSP, everyone was already able to make graphics etc. Why the need for the newest? I'm sticking with PSP7! :D
Starting with version 4 I use it for pixel perfect web image editing. Compared to PS I like it's simple interface for simple tasks. (and the price.)
I don't like their move to photo editing and the image manager is a nightmare, but still a lot of stars.
Just started working with this... and I like what I have done with it so far...
Paint Shop Pro 9 is what I have been using for the past few years, and it's great.
More for people who want to do things their way, without using pre-set textures and things like that offered in Photo Shop.
I was not aware it was bought away...
