The 2nd most popular firewall on Mac OS X
PeerGuardian and PeerGuardian 2 are free and open source programs developed by Phoenix Labs. They are capable of blocking incoming and outgoing connections based on IP blocklists. Their purpose is to help protect the user's privacy from organizations such as the RIAA and MPAA while using filesharing networks such as FastTrack and BitTorrent[citation needed]. The system is also capable of blocking advertising, spyware, government and educational ranges, depending upon user preferences.… More Edit

Useless. A horribly coded placebo that does nothing more than choke your connections due to its inability to filter
Why is it called a firewall?
It is a IP-Blocker, nothing more - but a good one ;)
Even though a bit buggy, by far the best blocklist-blocker around.
Free, quick download, easy to use - basic security requirement for me on OSX
A basic security requirement for anyone connecting to the web.
Nice free tool to keep not only anti-P2P companies at bay but also unwanted connections during gameplay (I'm looking at you Half-Life2!). Sometimes updates are a bit buggy when my anti-virus app was set to be too restrictive.
Opinions are always split as to what level of protection this genuinely provides for those that wish to remain out of sight of the various organisations that would wish track their downloading habits, but the bottom line remains; that if nothing else, PG2 does at least do a job as a relatively capable IP blocker. I use various lists (customised and otherwise) to block specific connect attempts, and I'm always content to have it running in the background.
Works well, but seems to cause lag when using applications that access the internet a ton. Around a 5 second delay between page loads in firefox.
And no, you can not watch videos on steam while using this app.
Just great application to protect your privacy from anti p2p companies. Regular updates, good performance and easy to use.
I used to run it, but I decided it was worthless. I don't need another thing making me more paranoid. I don't venture into RIAA/MPAA territory. Maybe ESA territory, but not RIAA/MPAA.
It works fine on Vista now. And I think its a great anti-snoop tool. At least gives me some level of security.
The Beta For Vista Isnt That Bad! it Works so far :) Add this to liberate yourself from spying ISP's & those anti-piracy snoops. Well if what your downloading is legal you should be fine right?
false security = awesome
Must have for people torrenting.. Protect yourself from anti-p2p companies etc.
Tin foil hat for the digital age.
Still, it's worth having around, for that added layer of comfort when you are torrenting COMPLETELY LEGAL FILES.
;)
