QuickPar uses the Reed-Solomon error correction algorithm to create either PAR or PAR2 files (PAR2 being superior) for a set of data. If the data becomes corrupt, PAR(2) files can be used to repair the data, depending on the amount of PAR(2) files and the amount of data corruption. It repairs it very quickly.

From time to time a lifesaver! Especially when you download large things on usenet like Linux distro's and Windows images.

While I use the official commandline client for PAR2 generation (as this can be used to create different correction data for a set of files) QuickPar comes handy when verifying this data. It's reasonably resource friendly, has a nice (altough slightly confusing at first glance) interface and generally does exactly what it's supposed to do.
All in all perfect for those who preffer GUI programs to CLI based ones.
