Everybody with OS X should at least give QuickSilver a try. because it's really wonderful!
some people believe that "Quicksilver may be the most revolutionary tool ever made for any operating system." and I can say the QuickSilver is the most deep application I have ever used. You can use it for months on end, and still find a new use for it every single day.
Someone mentioned that Apple must be kicking themselves for not coming up with this...
Let's just hope, like Fingerworks and similar brilliant ideas, Apple decides to pick up this ball and run with it.
I use QuickSilver mostly to open apps. Configuring the triggers could definitely use an "Apple-usability" review. I upgraded to the latest version after upgrading to Snow Leopard and the basic trigger would no longer work. I gave up trying to resolve the issue and down-graded to the previous version of QS. All is well again.
Let's just hope someone picks this up and continues development.
If only it didn't keep crashing in Snow Leopard. Still, this program does everything, and does it with such grace it's still odd that it isn't integrated OS-wide by default. The author's subsequent Google Quick Search Box does nice things too, but without the same awesome power as this program. Send a tweet? Sure. Launch a program? Sure. Search Google for a text string? Good. Search a directory for a file, rename it, and then email it in about 30 seconds? That power is why people still use this.
Great app though it did take me a few times to "get it". Too bad the open-source community has let it stay stagnant.
use it every day for mainly opening up new apps without having to go to my dock or take my hands off the keyboard.....great app!!
its ok, but I never found a really big reason to wanna swap to quicksilver from finder? Am I missing something?
I love launching with just the keyboard. Mousing on a 30" display takes too long.
Wow. I can't live without this program. I refuse to use a mac without it!
I install this app on any and all computers I can, not having it installed actually slows down my workflow!
I Just Downloaded A Few Hours Ago And It's Amazingly Awesome From Here I Swear By QuickSilver. It Makes Everything Easier. I Literally Will Have A Shortcut Anywhere On My Computer Or My Fav Sites On The Internet.
So much more than just a launcher. I keep on having to revise my opinion of how deeply powerful this app is. I now move all files etc from within 3 boxes, write and send short emails in 3 boxes without opening mail, search any search engine (like last.fm, ebay etc) from 3 boxes without opening a browser and set triggers for all sorts of operations like opening safari with 4 'home' pages. Beezer gear, genius wee hunk of software.
Without QuickSilver, the OS doesn't work.
I love it - I feel lost on macs that don't have it. I would like a better interface, however - it isn't as good as some of the launchers out there.
cant live without quicksilver
Apple must be kicking themselves for not coming up with this. Instantly useful but infinitely deep and powerful.
