REAPER is a powerful cross-platform application for multitrack recording and editing of audio. There're 32-bit and 64-bit versions for Windows (from Windows 98 to Windows 7), native version for MacOS X and it can be installed on Linux through Wine (and it works fine under Wine).

truly genius... this application is really the best thing you could use for semi-professional, and in my opinion even for the truly professional. Ive used Cubase over the last Years, and must say, shortly after i got used to the control scheme of Reaper, i was blown away by what it is capable of and how you have to spend very little effort to achieve things.
Most powerfull application for multitrack recording, mixing and mastering I ever used. (Nuendo, Samplitude, Logic, Sonar...) Now I'm with Reaper.
Amazing program. and it is getting better all the time.
