Best RSS Reader written in .NET. No need of .NET Framework if installed in Vista/7.. Otherwise, we need .NET Framework 3.5.
It's a shame, I just discovered this app on wakoopa and it looks really nice, with integration with newsgator too. But I refuse to use any software that "requires v3.5 of the .NET Framework".
Great feed reader, that enables the sync of your feed over Newsgator, Google reader or any kind of remote storage. It supports Podcasts as well as Newsgroup or search feeds. Also it's available in many languages.
I installed it about 3 weeks ago, just to synchronize it with my Google Reader. But it doesn't work perfect updating my Google Reader feeds at all!
Oh, no! .Net Get away from me!
It has a simple interface, but it does not work well syncing with Google Reader. I was hoping for a desktop interface to Google's service, but it doesn't work that way. RSS Bandit has the potential to be a great desktop RSS reader, but it doesn't really solve the problem of multiple computers like I had hoped.
A little difficult to move categories around. Clean interface.
Now with Google Reader support!
This is a great RSS Reader desktop software. (latest used: 1.5.0.10)
===== On the plus side =====
- shows new items in a newspaper view, and it is possible to scroll down that view to have a quick view of new items.
- items will flash as they are being read.
- no comlicated settings
- development team is quite responsive to correct bugs (but not so for adding new features)
- it is portable: data can be on a USB stick and carried around on various computers (this requires a tweak).
- it is free!
- provides a search function to dig in the archives
===== On the minus side =====
- integrated browser (based on IE) is not stable and leads to many errors. I still use an external browser to view pages and cannot rely on the embedded one.
- not confident with the file downloader (had bad experience with file that kept being downloaded although I had erased it).
- some glitches in the search function
===== Overall =====
Great software. Worth trying it if you have more than 2 RSS feeds that you usually look at.
