I have no experience with anything else, so hard to make a comparison :-)). Came with my wireless nodes. Initially I set up a wireless network without a router and aside from the usual network related hurdles, easy to set up. Later got a router and again no problems. The folks who make this also make a very powerful music driver. I don't think I would classify this as a Messenger :-))
