It is still lacking in features, but the RSS reader is nice and sometimes it just makes sites look better, particularly ones displaying digital photos (thanks to colour profiling). It is also much less crashy in current builds than it has been historically which is always a plus in a web browser.

Yeah man Firefox for OS X sucks. I'm all about Safari and Camino every now and then.

So many people are dissing on the fact it can;t load pages and wondering why it came to Windows. But I think one developer down there said it. Apple knew there were problems, and many web developers did not have a Mac to test out how their web pages would run on one. And now with the iPhone using the same platform, this gives Windows web developers the chance to test their pages. Honestly, I don't know if Apples aim was to make Safari your new full time browser, but it helps. I am a Mac user and I use Firefox on Windows. Also, you got to realise, how old is it? they just ported it to Windows, Firefox has had years on Windows, and IE has... well you get the point.

Horrible UI, horrible security, horrible compatiblilty with websites, absolutely fucking horrible browser.
Use IE7 or Firefox, they are so fucking superior you can't even see them when you're on Safaris level.

Faster than Firefox 2. If it had Bookmark All command, it would become my default.

Fast, sleek, and standards compliant but huge minuses in terms of featureset and extensibility. Webkit is a far better browser platform right now than Gecko, but Safari is simply a halfhearted implementation. Check out OmniWeb or Shiira instead for a higher quality browser with a better featureset.

And the Windows version? What is the point?

First off, I'm not mentally challenged therefore I don't use a Macintosh. I downloaded and used Safari to compare it to FireFox which is primary browser and IE7.

Safari couldnt even render my university homepage properly and I couldn't access my webmail or webct. That and the fact its full of security holes.

Its might be the shizzle in the Macverse but in the real world its fares poorly.

Agreed, Gecko is even worse than WebKit. The Gecko tag is wrong.

Why is this tagged with 'gecko'?

Hey, the version 3.522.13.1 (the last) is very stable. And now I can view the words.
But the Apple metal skin sucks like in the QuickTime.

I'm not myself using Safari yet, since its a beta. until then I stick with Fire fox.
but this is the biggest rhing happening in the browser market since i dont know how long. it is already in the beta the fastest browser on any platform it looks good and its the first time since Netscape IE gets a compeditor with a larger company behind them. this could be intresting. obvilsly MS is bigger and larger but apple got the momentum, and did play out Windows media player as a music player with Itunes. to they have already proven that they can beat MS on their own platform
