Saints row tried something that we were all waiting for: more GTA-alike games. You can say "rip-off" but on the other hand, aren't all FPS's not clones of doom? No the genre and gameplay is nice so why not clone them.

I was hoping for something unique... it isn't. It mixes GTA 4 with GTA SA, but not perfectly.

    The gangwars are fun.
The GTA IV city theme is nice.

But where did it go wrong?
Well, it's a console port and that's obvious. Even while my machine is quite extreme (not extremely extreme, quite..) it's gameplay lags. Especially when there is motionblur, the framerate drops for a second.

Also handling is based on a console game, if you play with a keyboard: get ready to get used to this. At first I thought I was playing a budget game, but no it's THQ..!! GTA's gameplay is for sure better. Why can't GTA/GTA-clone games not handle like, for example Max Payne did? third person and WAY nicer.

Also driving cars are a pain in the ass. It should go smoother and more realistic. Or at least a bit slower. This looks like pac-man on speed... while lagging.

Graphics wise I'm a bit mixed up. It def has some next-gen effects like the motion blur. However, the models themselves and lighteffects are very low poly and GTA-3 quality.

    What's good?
The humor is nice, how to create a character is nice.

The menu is irritating, I mean why no mouse cursor?! PC's have a mouse so why not USE THE FRICKING MOUSE. It's hilaric that when you are in a menu you have to use SHIFT AND CTRL to move through menu's... HEELLOOO--OOOoOoOOOooO THQ, anyone awake at the usability department? *If any*

Overall a 3/5. It's a nice game, enjoyable for sure. But it just needs a lot of tweaking performance and gameplay wise.
IF you played all GTA games and want some more, it's a nice addition to your collection of games.

Could have been better. Yes let's start with that. It could have been better but is still decent. For the people who say it's a copy of GTA. No. GTA has a far more serious tone. Saints Row 2 is about fun it resembles GTA: SA not IV not even close.

And it is alot fun. J
