A small and fast two-pane file manager with open plugin architecture. The ability to view content of files (text, html, over 40 picture formats, mp3), support for archives (zip, rar, arj, cab, tar/gzip, etc.) and intuitive user interface that is easier to learn and use, makes it widely popular substitute for Windows Explorer.

For me, simply the best file manager ever. I could do almost everything I have to do with it, a browser and an office suite. I just cannot live without it. To try it is to adopt it.

    Simply the best.

Servant Salamander is the only file manager I've gotten used to. It has numerous keyboard shortcuts that may not seem like much in themselves, but put all those together and you'll be flying around your file hierarchy with ease. I'm still using their freeware version 1.52, by the way.

Best file manager on any platform. Customizable, small, efficient and fast. Can't live without Shift+number shortcuts to folders. Nice UI design too, unlike the butt-ugly Total Commander.

After trying several applications in this genre, I finally found this tool and it is far superior to the competitors. Total Commander, although powerful, has one of the worst UI designs in history. Others were either clones of Total Commander, or text based. Servant Salamander looks and works like a Windows Application, yet still has the power of all those great shortcuts.
