Really, when compared to what a great AI alternative Inkscape is, Scribus is nowhere near ID or QXP. It remains note- and praiseworthy, but so far it has disappointed me every time I decided to reinstall.
I've never been able to afford any Adobe products and so have had to look to the opensource world and man, I tell ya, some of the gems you find when you go searching! Scribus is one of the ones on the top of my list! It's great for desktop publishing and has quite the list of features and is fairly easy to get used to. Can't recommend it enough!
My InDesign failed on me, so now I'm using this. It's fairly good, it works, it's easy to understand. A bit clunky and "basic looking" for me, though. Still, it does the job, and I'm thankful for that.
A great little program, though a little difficult to get to grips with at first.
