The 43rd most popular operating process on Mac OS X
… More EditSIMBL (short for SIMple Bundle Loader, formerly Smart InputManager Bundle Loader, and pronounced like symbol or cymbal), is an application enhancement (InputManager bundle) loader for Mac OS X developed by Mike Solomon for third-party developers to add functionality and modifications to existing applications developed with the Cocoa environment without access to the original source code. SIMBL uses the InputManager system, originally meant to support foreign input methods, to load code. Plugins utilizing SIMBL gain a couple advantages over normal InputManager modifications such as targeted code loading into specific applications. Originally designed for Solomon's PithHelmet, other developers have used SIMBL as the basis for their projects. The most popular use of SIMBL is to add functionality to the Apple Safari web browser for which an official plugin system is not provided by Apple.
