SizeUp allows you to quickly position a window to fill exactly half the screen (splitscreen), a quarter of the screen (quadrant), full screen, or centered via the menu bar or configurable system-wide shortcuts (hotkeys). Similar to "tiled windows" functionality available on other operating systems.

I've been using Gridmove on my Windows machine and ever since I hooked my macbook up to an external screen I've been searching for an app like Sizeup. You can really effectively use all of your pixels with this app. The app is neat, fast, easy and complete. Certainly worth a few bucks if you are a shortcut-o-holic like me.
