This is the 3D progam we use in school, and since I haven't used anything else, I don't know what to compare it to.
A beginner would probably struggle with it. I think the interface isn't very user-friendly. I'm just glad my professor gave us a walk-through, so I know like 10% of the program now.
I switched from Maya to XSI when Softimage announced the ICE. I was really impressed with the engine and got addicted with it when the ver. 7 trial came out.
Though it does not have the flagship flexibility of Maya but it does the job for me as a freelance 3D artist with a good budget.
Sadly Autodesk acquired Softimage and MIGHT increase the price of it and even change the name / logo.
good 3d software, very powerful, and now 3rd bro in autodesk collection =)))
