Very good editor, supports many formats in and out.
AFX can't be compared to Vegas, Vegas is not a compositor or a motion graphic creator.
Vegas can pawn Premiere any day!

    Horrible program.
A much better alternative is Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
Sure vegas is easy to crack, but that doesn't make it any good.
Slow and sluggish and not many included effects make it a bad program. Even windows movie maker is better.

All I need and more for my YouTube videomaking hobby. Two handfuls of effects, rendering in a number of different formats, and green screen ability. But more importantly - and what I found lacking in MovieMaker and Pinnacle Studio - Sony Vegas is very stable. Hasn't crashed on me once.

Excellent program! In my opinion even more powerful, stable and, much more important, user friendly than e.g. Adobe Premiere. Unfortunately Sony Vegas is not known very well in Europe. Yet...

Two years ago, when I started video editing, I tried many, many semi-professional programs. Adobe Premiere was on top of all lists. So I used it for a while. But unfortunately it was not a great success. I needed to struggle to get the most simple things done, and at the end of the day, it crashed and crashed over and over again...

Then I stumbled upon Sony Vegas. Wow! What a relieve... Like a breath of fresh air!

It's very user friendly (e.g. in every situation, the right mouse button has always the most needed functions within reach - very, very intuitive!) and, above all, since I've been using this piece of software it never-ever crashed. Not even once...

Don't know about Adobe Premiere today, but Sony Vegas is the one for me!
